Proud to be a Pet Remedy Professional Partner
The dog training and behaviour industry is currently unregulated, meaning anyone can call themselves a trainer regardless of their experience or methods. A recent article by Pet Remedy has raised important concerns about this, encouraging owners to look for qualified, ethical professionals who prioritise welfare and emotional wellbeing. You can read the article here.
As a reactivity support specialist and accredited IMDT force-free trainer, I fully support this message.
I work with reactive, sensitive and overwhelmed dogs, using modern, science-led, compassionate methods that protect trust, safety, and emotional health. My work specialises in helping owners understand their dog, build confidence, and create calmer, more manageable walks and everyday routines.
The article reminds owners to avoid trainers who rely on punishment, intimidation, or tools such as shock collars or choke chains. These outdated methods can increase fear and worsen behaviour. For me, building a bond with your dog, learning to communicate with and understand your dog, is the only way to work. Owners must seek professionals who are transparent, kind, insured, and committed to humane practice.
I have signed the Pet Remedy Pledge, and in doing so, I promise to:
✔ Work force-free and fear-free
✔ Never use or endorse pain-based tools
✔ Support the Animal Welfare Act 2006
✔ Prioritise emotional wellbeing above everything.
