I share my life in Poole, Dorset, with my wonderfully imperfect dog: Rocket, a German Wirehaired Pointer.
Rocket is our gobby, shouty drama queen (aka a reactive or yellow dog) who used to find the world a very overwhelming place. Six years ago, he couldn’t even be in the same field as another dog—now he’s attending nosework classes, joins in dog camping trips, and walks past other dogs with far less fuss. Some days he still needs to shout, and that’s okay.
Rocket was the turning point for me. I’d spent years helping friends and family with their dogs, especially those with big feelings or tricky behaviours, but working through Rocket’s challenges made me realise just how much I loved supporting reactive dogs and their humans. I decided to train professionally, and after a lot of learning (and unlearning), I gained my IMDT-accredited dog trainer qualification. I also hold an OCN Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Dog Training and Behaviour.
I’ve been lucky to support lots of lovely people and their dogs, from bouncy new puppies to barky, anxious rescues. I specialise in helping people who feel a bit stuck, unsure, or overwhelmed by their dog’s behaviour. Together, we figure it out, without judgement and at a pace that works for both of you.
I’m a big believer in ongoing learning, because dog training (like dog ownership!) is never “one and done.” I regularly undertake professional development and work alongside other trainers to stay up-to-date with the best and kindest ways to help dogs thrive.
I also develop education programmes for animal rescue charities, teaching children about safety, empathy, and responsible dog ownership. And I’m proud to be a trustee for Greyhounds in Need, a charity very close to my heart – I love that I can offer advice and support to our wonderful adopters.
If you’re looking for a friendly, practical dog trainer who will meet you where you’re at, cheer you on, and help you and your dog feel more confident together, get in touch.
