Terms & conditions – Reactive dog workshops and classes

These sessions are organised and run by Samantha Taylor, trading as Canine Coaching with Sam, assisted by Alex Gosney, trading as Active Instincts Dog Training.

By signing up for a Reactive Dog class or workshop session, you agree to the following:

Dog welfare

These sessions are designed to be supportive and enjoyable, but can be mentally tiring for your dog. Please ensure your dog is:

  • In good health and physically fit to participate
  • Not currently lame, injured, or experiencing any known medical issues (unless approved by your vet and discussed with the trainer in advance).

Your dog’s welfare is always the top priority. While the trainer/s will be closely monitoring all dogs, you are responsible for meeting your dog’s needs at all times during the session. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact us beforehand.

Class environment

Sessions take place in a private, enclosed field with a maximum of 5 dogs per group, and no off-lead dogs. While the environment is managed to be as calm and supportive as possible, it’s essential that your dog can be safely handled on lead around other dogs at a distance.

Dogs showing high levels of stress and/or reactivity beyond manageable levels will be asked to return to the car to give them some time to decompress. In some circumstances, certain dogs may spend longer in the car than working in the field – this is still part of the class experience, and we will work with you to ensure their well-being and build their resilience.

Safety and responsibility

You understand that participation in this class involves both known and unforeseen risks to yourself, your dog, others, and personal property. You accept full responsibility for these risks and agree to:

  • Follow all reasonable instructions from the trainer/s
  • Behave considerately and respectfully toward others (both human and canine)
  • Ensure your dog is held securely at all times and that space between all participating dogs and humans is maintained at all times
  • Respect the venue and the surrounding property.

Handlers must be in full control of their dogs at all times. We cannot accept responsibility for any injury or damage to people, dogs, or property during the session.

Dogs must remain on a lead at all times. If you’re concerned about holding your dog securely, we strongly recommend using a waist belt and lead combo for added safety and comfort. Additionally, if there is any risk that your dog might bite, please use a muzzle. (We can provide advice on appropriate muzzles for your dog and muzzle training).

By attending, you release the trainers and venue owners from liability for any injury or damage unless caused by their gross negligence.

Bookings and payment

All handlers will be required to confirm their acceptance of the terms & conditions on their booking form. Bookings will not be confirmed without this agreement in place.

Payment is required at the time of booking, and your place will only be confirmed once payment has been received.

Spaces/prices are for one dog only, as each handler can only work one dog at a time.

Cancellations made within 72 hours of the class/workshop session are non-refundable, but may be rescheduled.

Permissions

By agreeing to these terms & conditions, unless you have explicitly requested otherwise on your booking form, you also agree for any photos and videos taken during classes to be shared in promotional and marketing activities for Samantha Taylor, trading as Canine Coaching with Sam, and Alex Gosney, trading as Active Instincts Dog Training.
